I was born in the Baltimore metro region in Maryland on October 24th 1997 to my mom Roxana Caruso and my dad Luis Tirigall. Both my mom and dad were born in Argentina and immigrated to the United States. I have Argentine, Spaniard, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, Basque, Greek, French, British, Irish, German, Austrian, Polish, and Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. I am the descendant of Jose Marzano, a loyal best buddy of Jose De San Martin, the Liberator of Argentina, Peru, and Chile. Jose Marzano was born in Spain. In 1806, Marzano came to the Viceroyalty of the Rio De La Plata which was a Spaniard colony in the present-day territory of Argentina. Marzano became a slave owner, a wealthy rich man, and a shopkeeper. I was the on-camera talent for my father’s home videos. In December 2000, I was displaying signs of autism. In May 2001, me and my family moved to Columbia, Maryland. In December 2004, I participated in my father’s musical band called La Roca at the Columbia Lakefront Stage in front of 400 to 500 people. When I was a student enrolled at Talbott Springs Elementary School from 2006 to 2008, I participated as an intercom announcer for Talbott Springs Elementary School. In my middle school years and freshman year of high school, I was bullied because of my achievements and my autism. This was a period of depression and sadness where I was suffering from constant bullying. These years were not nice for me. As a result of the bullying, I nearly took my own life away and I almost killed myself. Between the end of my freshman year and the beginning of my sophomore year, I was homeschooled. In my sophomore year of high school, my life was changed when I joined Best Buddies. In August 2013, I joined the Reservoir High School chapter of Best Buddies to enrich my social skills. My experience in theater arts began in my sophomore year at Reservoir High School and I was awarded the Reservoir High School Theatre Arts Awards for participation in the theatre arts program. I was even a television presenter for Reservoir High School. In my junior year, I enrolled myself in television class where I displayed my acting, writing, and filmmaking skills. From 2014 to 2016, I participated in Reservoir High School’s talent shows as an actor, comedian, filmmaker, puppeteer, and a singer. Throughout my years in both middle school and high school, I had 15 honor rolls. I graduated from Reservoir High School in May 2016. Throughout my student life, I made a lot of academic achievements. In November 2016, I became the first and only member with autism of the Best Buddies Maryland Friendship Walk Committee. On March 7th 2018, I was compelled to speak alongside my mother, Dianne Nagel of Project Access, Kathy McSweeney, Director of HCC Disability Support Services and Melissa Rosenberg, Executive Director of HCAS discussing Autism in Howard County. I shared my inspiring journey to adulthood as a person with autism that was not always easy but continues to be flavored with humility and kindness. In 2019, I created the Best Buddies Maryland Ambassador Committee of which I was the Co-Chair. In addition, I became the first White Hispanic with autism and the first Southern European with autism to receive the 2019 Young Trailblazer Award from the Howard County NAACP. I also received the Partners In Policymaking award from The Arc Maryland, the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council, and People On The Go. In January 2020, I became the first White Hispanic with autism and the first Southern European with autism to become a member of the Howard County Autism Society’s Board of Directors. Today I am involved in the Howard County Autism Society, Best Buddies Maryland, The Kaleidoscope Club, and the Howard County NAACP. I also used to be involved in the police trainings created by the LeadAbility company led by Lisa Schoenbrodt Myers, a speech-language pathologist who is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is licensed by the Maryland Board of Examiners. She is also a Distinguished Scholar and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice. In addition, Lisa is a Full Professor on the faculty at Loyola University Maryland in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences.
